Custom Duties, Strategic Goods, ICT-Goods Import Duty Tax in Suriname

Custom duties
The following duties are due upon import:
– import duty 0% to 40% on the CIF value
– statistical duty 0.5% on the CIF value
– right of consent 1.5% on the CIF value
– Value Added Tax (VAT) 10% (or 25% on specific goods) on the CIF value, including the total of the aforementioned duties

With the accession of Suriname to CARICOM in 1995, the import duty regime was adapted to the CARICOM regulations. Goods produced in the CARICOM are exempt from import duties.

 

Strategic goods

The Minister of Finance and Planning has decided not to extend the Strategic Goods
decision.

Basic goods
The Minister of Finance en Planning has decided for the import of basic goods until August 23, 2024:

– to suspend the levying of import duties

– partial exemption from statistical duty up to an amount of SRD 5,-

– to suspend the levy of Value Added Tax on disposable diapers for babies (G.C.
4818.4020) and disposable diapers for adults (G.C. 4818.4090)

Procedure to qualify for the suspension

After approval from the various departments of (Min EZ), the customs broker can print an H-03 form from the SESW system with which the import of the basic goods can take place. The H-03 import permit must be stamped with “project basic goods”.

 

ICT-goods
For the import of ICT-goods goods until December 31, 2025 the Minister of Finance en Planning has decided:
– to suspend the levying of import duties
– partial exemption from statistical duty up to an amount of SRD 100,-
